We duck hunting this morning on the Youth Duck hunt. We had a great time! She shot at 3 ducks and hit two of them but not enough to bring them down. It was a cold 29-degree morning. I can see her getting hooked on duck hunting like she is on deer hunting. Austin didn't go on the trip - he wasn't happy about it! She fired up now for the upcoming turkey season!

February 7, 2004 - The shotgun arrived! It's a perfect fit for her. It's a very nice shotgun! She has never shot a shotgun before tonight - we set a couple of targets up and let her shoot at them - she did very well. We setup the Trap Thrower and threw 10 or so clay pigeons - she broke two of them! I was impressed!! We were shooting by a night light in the dark. She seems to have a knack for shooting a firearm. Kim's side of the family claims to have Daniel Boone as an ancestor - maybe it's true :)

February 2, 2004 - I ordered Amber a Benelli Montefeltro 20-guage shotgun today. It has the short stock - 12.5" Length of Pull. It should be in this Friday or first of next week.

It was a great day of hunting and end to the season! We started hunting just before daylight and it rained all morning. We hunted until 3:00pm and it finally quit just as we finished picking up the decoys - figures right? :) We saw quit a few ducks for the raining weather and had a great time. I think we finished up with 15 ducks - not bad for the horrible weather. Hot tomato soup is great when it's 40 degrees and raining! P.S. - Jim, a covered blind would be nice - hint, hint :)

It was a great day of hunting! We saw lots of ducks and killed a limit - 10 gadwalls and 2 wood ducks. I wanted a wood duck drake and hen to mount - got a great pair to put in the hunting room. It was cold and windy - perfect for our feathered friends to visit. A great hunt!!

It was a great day of hunting! We saw lots of ducks and could've had a limit in the first hour. We didn't shoot into the big flocks in order to not spook them. Later in the morning as they split off into smaller groups, Jim would call them back. At one time the sky was black with ducks - they were swarming the blind and landing in the decoys. We could tell Levi thought we were crazy for not shooting :)
