January 8th (PM) Saturday Hunting Club Jackson County: Austin and I hunted. Saw 15 deer. Four bucks. Three small bucks and one nice 8 point that had one side broke off. He would've been a shooter with both sides. The big buck chased deer all over the food plot. We watched and videoed him for 30 minutes. He made a scrape on one side. Two smaller bucks with basket racks fought 30 yards from the shooting house at dark.
January 8th (AM) Saturday Hunting Club Jackson County: Shot a monster buck and lost him. I was hunting in cutover and it was VERY thick. He was chasing a doe and stopped. I shot and he took off. I had good blood for 150 yards. According to the GPS, tracked him a total of 1400 yards by blood before losing trail. I think the bullet hit something and fragmented. It was almost like hitting him with buckshot. I spent 10 hours total looking for him. He was 150+ B&C deer. Maybe he will turn up on trail cam pics or will be found dead. I'm sick about it!

Will not hunt in a tornado warning period. Joe Simmons and I were hunting on Wheeler Refuge one time and a huge storm blew in. We were a LONG way from the truck and lightning was striking between us and the river - NOT GOOD!

October 19th (PM) Tuesday Morgan County Property: Rain and Storms! Came a down pour from 4:00 till 4:40. Got soaking wet. Had another storm coming (this one had lightning) - got down at 5:15. Something about sitting 20' up on a metal stand in lightning does not appeal to me. A few acorns dropping. Saw 0 deer before rain. Tomorrow should be a good day - always good after a front! Will post new trail cam pics soon.
October 18th (PM) Monday Madison County Property: Saw 9 deer. 4 bucks and 5 doe. None in bow range. Tough with all the acorns dropping.

October 15th (PM) Friday Hunting Club Jackson County: Hunted a group of white and red oaks dropping. Setup was perfect. Climbed a red oak with a cluster of maple trees growing in front of it. I cut the top out of a couple of smaller trees and they feel over creating great cover. The wind was perfect. Of course I saw zero deer.
October 15th (AM) Friday Hunting Club Jackson County: Wind was horrible it blew from every direction. I could only see 30 yards from the stand very thick! Heard some deer coming and wind blew scent to them. They blew and bolt at 50 yards. I had a 6 or 7 point come in at 15 yards. He was real nervous and finally bolted. He was too small to shot based on club rules. Buck was around 160-170 lbs body wise. I took a picture just before he ran.
October 14th Thursday - Spent the day scouting at the hunting club. Found one small area with a few white oaks. Deer are eating the mountain oak acorns and there are thousands of them here. I found a couple of areas the deer are eating well. Plan to hunt them tomorrow.
